Job Role: The Estimator supports business development by developing detailed project cost estimates, collaborating with engineering and project teams, and ensuring proposals are aligned with project requirements. This role contributes to securing new business by ensuring competitive, thorough, and well-documented proposals. This is an office-based position.
Key Duties:
• Analyze project specifications, drawings, and related documents to develop accurate cost estimates
• Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to gather necessary data
• Prepare detailed takeoffs for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs
• Evaluate and update historical cost data for use in future bids
• Assist with the development of project proposals and bid packages
• Ensure compliance with company pricing strategies and margin goals
• Attend internal meetings to align estimating with sales goals and operational capabilities
• Maintain accurate and organized documentation of estimates and proposal records
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 2+ years of experience in estimating or project costing in a construction or industrial setting
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and estimating software
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position (seated or standing) for extended periods
• Occasionally may need to lift or carry items up to 25 pounds (e.g., office supplies, small equipment)
Preferences:
• Experience estimating industrial refrigeration or mechanical systems
• Familiarity with construction processes, codes, and materials
• Prior exposure to sales or proposal development
