Innovative Refrigeration Systems, Inc. has a new position available for an Orbital Welder Operator at the facility in Lyndhurst, VA. This is a manufacturing position that is responsible for the fabrication and welding of pipe and other structural welding as required using the latest orbital welding technology. This position will support our field construction team in the manufacturing process.

About the Position:

  • Daylight shift guaranteeing 40-50 hours per week

Key Duties:

  • Use AMI (Arc Machines Inc)  227 power supply with an M15 weld head on it. This is orbital Pipe welding not orbital Fusion welding
  • Weld pipe ranging in size from 3/4" up to 18" (majority of pipe welding is performed on 2" to 6" pipe)
  • Setup and perform orbital welding operations on a wide array of pipe and metal assemblies and ensure company level of standard is achieved based on CAD drawings
  • Weld pipe runs on critical components including:  Compressors, vessels, evaporators, oil separators, condensers, and various pieces of pre-fab
  • Cutting, beveling, and fitting pipe
  • Welders work closely with the shop foremen and the VP of Manufacturing to complete tasks individually as well as part of a team

Requirements:

  • Prefer welding school graduate and 2+ years pipe welding experience (extensive experience in pipe welding will be considered in lieu of education)
  • Familiarity with AMI (Arc Machines Inc)  227 power supply with an M15 weld head on it.
  • Prefer candidate familiar with metallurgy
  • Require at least 1 year of orbital welding hands-on experience or graduate from an approved program
  • Prefer candidates who can also pass a 6G SMAW Weld test (tested on 2" schedule 80 steel stick, 6010 root, 7018 cap - uphill weld 45-degree angle)
  • Ability to climb 40-foot extension ladders and work on all types of ladders
  • Ability to operate scissor lifts, fork trucks, boom lifts, lulls and other industrial equipment safely
  • Must be able to work at heights in a safety harness
  • Ability to see and hear industrial equipment moving around the job site.
  • Capable of working alone up to 12 hours carrying out assigned tasks
  • Capable of lifting 75lbs frequently during the day
  • Must be able to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, and squat for extended periods of time
  • Requires working in a shop that can get very hot or very cold.  Must have the ability to wear all required safety PPE in these conditions.
  • Position requires pre-employment drug screening and background check
  • Should be familiar with rigging, torch cutting, grinder & wire wheel operation, leveling, and use of measurement tools
